Eastside Co-op

Observations, natural cycles, ecologies, abstractions, and identifications of Minnesota’s flora, fauna, fungi and landscapes

Greg’s art is a reflection of his interactions with and observations of the natural world, especially the flora, fauna and fungi he encounters everyday.

His work never aims to produce realistic or lifelike images. Instead it incorporates natural cycles, ecologies, abstraction, the fantastical and the act of observation itself. The final result is an expressionist field guide or perhaps an abstract phenology text.

His artwork is predominantly digital. Each work typically starts with a series of field observations that are recorded  by a combination of rough sketches, notes and photographs.

His ultimate goal with his artwork is to invite people into a closer look and relationship with nature; that “nature” is here and now and is as ubiquitous in a pristine wilderness as it is in a weedy neighborhood alley.
